Vacations

We had a vacation booked and planned for Feb 2012. For whatever reason, I got into my head that I would be pregnant by the time we went on hat tvacation but that was before I found out about my husband's SA results. Now I wonder if I will be pregnant by our 5 year wedding anniversary. We have decided that if we aren't pregnant by that point, we are going to take a huge vacation somewhere. The kind of vacation that you don't normally splurge on, but that takes away a little bit of the pain inside for a little while. Traveling rejuvenates me in a way that not much else does. It's sharing time with my husband and experiencing new places, new foods and creating new memories. Traveling grounds me in a special way while also lifting my spirits.

So where should we go? We'd only be able to take 7-10 days off from work so it can't be too far away as I don't want to lose that much time traveling back and forth from our destination. I'm thinking Italy or France or maybe something much more obscure.

  1. Oh, Italy sounds so good... We went to Portugal couple of years ago and liked it a lot. How about Latin America - Peru, Costa Rica, Brazil? Or maybe Thailand (Check out Phi-phi island) - but that is kind of far but beautiful. Also Bora bora islands in Tahiti - is amazing and secluded. I guess it all depends on what type of traveling you like to do :-)

  2. I had a wonderful vacation in Barcelona and Marrakech a few years ago (they're a short flight apart). Fabulous food, lots of walking (we actually lost weight despite eating lavishly and checking out all the chocolate shops in Barcelona). Marrakech is exotic but safe, although it can be overstimulating due to noise/crowds/aggressive merchants, etc. I'm really glad we went.

  3. Adina - Portugal is definitely on our list of places that we must go to! What time of the year did you go?

  4. Brave IVF Girl - it's funny you should mention Barcelona. We are actually going to Madrid in October.

Marrakech looks amazing. What made you want to travel there? Just the fact that it was a short flight away? I'd love to go.

  5. We went in June and that is actually where my husband proposed to me :-) maybe that is why that place is so special...

  6. I just noticed that you are thinking of taking vacation in February. Being that I am originally from Europe - I would not recommend going to Europe in February because it is so much better in the spring, early summer and fall.

  7. No, no. The cruise is in Feb (diff vacation). Our 5 year wedding anniversary is in late May so we'd like to take a trip for our 5 year wedding anniversary in June or July.

  8. My sister-in-law went to Morocco a few years back and loved it, so it was on our list. Flying directly there is a pain, so we chose a European city as our initial destination; neither of us had been to Spain, so Barcelona seemed like a good fit.
